The Rangel fix (A reprimand? That's it for the corrupt tax-cheat Charlie?)

The Rangel fixLast Updated: 8:34 AM, July 31, 2010 A reprimand? That's it? Seems so. Barely a day after the House Ethics Committee issued its 13-count bill of particulars against Rep. Charlie Rangel, one of his de facto inquisitors revealed the likely punishment. "The recommendation we had was a reprimand, and I'll let the full committee make that decision," said Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas), who led the investigative subcommittee that brought the 13 misconduct charges against Rangel -- which included misusing official resources for personal gain. No fines. No censure. No expulsion. Just a reprimand. And the sentence is revealed...

GOP leadership will hold fire on Rangel (sit back and watch the tax-cheat Charlie spectacle)

GOP leadership will hold fire on RangelBy Molly K. Hooper - 07/26/10 08:56 PM ET House Republican leaders intend to keep their powder dry as the public ethics trial of embattled Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) unfolds. Throughout the 111th Congress, House GOP lawmakers have offered measures targeting Rangel. But dont expect one this week. Republicans are employing a dont-get-in-the-way-of-your-enemies-when-they-are-destroying-themselves strategy, the same game plan Democrats employed as Republicans grappled with ethics scandals in 2006. According to several leadership sources, top-ranking Republicans hope that the former Ways and Means Committee chairman fights charges of ethical wrongdoing. We want him fighting this...

Paterson to Emcee Rangel's Birthday Bash (Plaza Hotel, Aug 11 - Tax-cheat Charlie has turned 80!)

Paterson to Emcee Rangel's Birthday BashBy Reid Pillifant July 14, 2010 | 4:09 p.m Charlie Rangel will celebrate his 80th birthday in style next month, with Aretha Franklin contributing vocals and local Democrats providing plenty of R-E-S-P-E-C-T. The invitiation lists the attendees: both U.S. Senators, all three statewide electeds, all three citywide electeds, plus Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, and unnamed colleagues from the congressional delegation. Of course, the outpouring of support--even for a congressman facing ethics charges--isn't terribly surprising, since they're almost all Democrats coming to pay tribute to a local legend. The one non-Democrat on the list: Mayor Michael...

Congress: Charlie Rangel's world (CAPTION the corrupt, sad sack, RAT, tax-cheat as he gets BOOTED!)

Congress: Charlie Rangel's world The AP takes a long look at the personal side of Charlie Rangel and his relationship with other members of Congress: "His wife, Alma, warns him not to be naive about the glad-handling. 'You know,' she tells him, 'they're putting you on.' ... 'She says it's unseemly,' Rangel says of his wife's advice. 'I say, 'Suppose it's not real. As long as they keep saying these things until I die, what difference does it make?' But he admits, 'It's still painful. It's times like this when I have to reinforce the facts: I'm alive, I'm well,...

Crist Ahead of Rubio by 11 Points in New Poll
Posted by admin / Under Charlie Wilson (Ohio Politician)
A new poll from the Florida Chamber of Commerce has good news for Gov Charlie Crist and his independent campaign for the U.S. Senate but it is an outlier compared to other polls taken in June. The poll showed Crist leading the U.S. Senate race with 42 percent while 31 percent backed the Republican candidate, former House Speaker Marco Rubio. U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the leading Democrat in the race, trailed with 14 percent. 12 percent were undecided. This conflicts with polls taken earlier in the month showing the independent candidate in a tight race with Rubio. A poll taken...
